Is Christian Debt Counseling For Secured and Unsecured Debt a Sure Thing?

Credit cards were a great invention! A person could get an emergency airline ticket, because there aunt passed away and they don’t have the money to get there right now. Or that same person could suddenly find that a tire has been punctured by a nail and they need a new one as soon as possible, it has been a bad month and if we get a new tire we won’t have the money to buy food, if we don’t get the tire we can’t get to work. This person would not use the credit card for any other reason, right? Credit cards are just too easy to use sometimes on non emergencies. Is Christian debt counseling for secured and unsecured debt the right direction for you?

Credit card balances that are unpaid are easily the worst kind of debt. You need to create a plan to pay this debt off, and make it a top priority.

If you find yourself deep in credit card bills, Christian debt counseling for secured debt can help.

A Little About Credit Counseling Services

Several credit counseling companies are non-profit and they will offer to help you solve these financial problems, but you’ll need to be aware that just because a company or organization says it is “non-profit,” there is no real guarantee that its debt counseling services are free or even legitimate.  Some credit counseling companies even charge high fees. A few companies don’t bother to send your payments on time to the creditors which is a real problem for you.

Services are offered by most credit counselors through local offices, the telephone, or even the Internet.  You need to find an organization that offers in-person counseling for credit card debt.  Some good sources of information and/or referrals are financial institutions, your local consumer protection agency, and friends and family.

Things to Remember

1. Check the Yellow Pages under the credit and debt counseling section. You will find numerous agencies that offer debt counseling services.   Go through a few of these services and select a service provider that takes the lowest percentage of your payment.

2. Search for debt counseling using a good search engine.  There are several debt counseling websites that provide online services.   Be sure to check the legitimacy of these organizations with the Better Business Bureau before providing any information.

3. Set up an appointment with a debt counselor to look into your finances and debts.

4. Discuss and prepare a payment plan with the credit card debt counseling service to have your debt repaid.

5. The debt counseling company must be paid on time. Credit card companies must also be paid on time or your credit will be affected.

Always Protect Yourself from Fraud

Don’t give out any of your credit card or personal info to self-proclaimed credit counseling companies without first verifying that they are legit in order to avoid a scam or identity theft.

Whether you use a company that is Christian debt counseling for secured and unsecured debt or you choose to use a company that does not claim to be Christian is up to you. Just don’t assume that the company that has Christian in there name is going to be the most honest. Unfortunately some of these companies might just be interested in getting you to trust them as they make your current money problem allot worse.
