Ten years or so ago when I worked in retail at a cash register, I was usually given cash or checks. Sometimes a credit card was presented to me for purchases. The other cashers would often complain about having to make change for the cash purchases. Not me, I like the math challenge. I don’t suppose that the cash buyers needed a cheap debt consolidation loan, they probably didn’t have much UK credit card debt.
Sadly, those simpler times are gone, credit card consolidation is here, and credit card companies are not nearly as forgiving. Now, with an unsure economy, people have turned to their credit cards. Unfortunately, credit cards are only convenient for so long before you are getting letters in the mail asking you if you would be interested in having your credit card consolidation debt taken care of.
Is Credit Card Consolidation to Eliminate Debt Right for You?
First of all, consider the various ways that you can avoid using a credit card in the first place. Many people like using a credit card because they dislike having to write checks and/or carry cash with them. However, there is a way to avoid credit card debt and not carry cash or checks with you at the same time, and that is to carry a debit card.
A debit card works just like a credit card, except that instead of accruing credit card debt, when the debit card is used, the money is automatically deducted from your checking account. However, if you do not actually have much money saved, that could end up defeating the purpose.
So, what is credit card consolidation debt? First of all, you would have had to consolidate all of the debt you have on your total amount of credit cards so that you are only paying only basic monthly interest rate. This can considerably lessen your overall payments because it is on a total amount, as opposed to paying the interest of several different credit cards.
There are many different companies that advertise their ability to eliminate credit card consolidation, as well as any credit card consolidation debt that you might have. However, in an ideal situation, credit card consolidation is meant to get you further out of debt, rather than further in.
So when you go to the store think about just using cash. If you don’t have the cash then you might not need the item. The number of people that are carrying a significant credit card debt is astounding, and most of that debt was to buy things that they probably didn’t need. But if you are in an overwhelming situation with your debt then go ahead and find out if a cheap debt consolidation loan is for you for your UK credit card debt.
